Realizing that in today's world there is a huge number of good dogs being euthanized and neglected daily, we believe there is still a place for quality dogs to be bred. Over the years we have been active in horse and dog rescue. We also have some mutts that are dear to us. We can see both sides of the dog breeding argument.
We do not support nor condone puppy mills and the practices of many back yard or poor commercial breeders. We are not here to judge others, but we do not condone practices wherein the dogs are not put before the money. We are not opposed to placing a dog for free in a good home rather than getting high dollar from a poor home. Granted, the money is nice and helps us to continue the care and quality of our dogs, but it is not the motivating factor in our lives.
This page is dedicated to the policies and contracts we use. We believe that by being up front about our views and contracts we can avert any misunderstandings and find the best homes for our dogs.
We will offer our puppies for sale to good homes within the continental USA only. We realize that there are good homes outside of that scope, however, we do not feel it is in the best interest of the dogs to endure quarantines. Shipping is available under certain restrictions. Shipping Info
Our puppies will be registered as available, healthy, sociable, and will come with puppy packs, Veterinary health certificate, health records, health guarantee (does not cover hypoglycemia, parasites, coccidia, giardia, parvo, rhino) and will be up to date on all preventative care.
Non-refundable deposits will hold pups too young to leave until they are 8-10 weeks old, providing the balance is paid in full by then. We will accept payments up to the 10 week old point. If not paid in full by 10 weeks old, all payments will be forfeited and puppy may be resold unless other arrangements are agreed to in writing between us and the buyer. Consider this: We hold a puppy for you, a wonderful home. We tell good home B that the puppy is sold to you thus the B's find another puppy elsewhere. Now life trows you a wrinkle and you don't buy the puppy. Good business is part of it, as well as common sense. Too often people are enthralled with a puppy, may even be a super home... and never follow through with the purchase.
We do not breed any females prior to their third heat as they are still growing and developing themselves. We do not breed on every heat, but may breed consecutive heats on occasion depending on the dog. We do not breed if either dog is ill or has a defect. Dogs and puppies that we do not feel should be bred will be either altered before leaving or will be sold on terms. We have, in the past, placed retired, poor quality, rescue, etc dogs in good homes for free or at very limited cost. Some have retired with us and stayed until they lived out their days. We would love to keep them all, however, we would not being doing them any favors by getting too big to give everyone the love and attention they deserve.
No puppy will leave until at least 8 weeks old.
Our
puppies will not be shipped in, and mothers will be available on-site
unless we have obtained the puppy for payment of stud services or rescued it. In this
case all parent information will be available as known. On occasion we have had people give us pups or pregnant moms. On these occasions it will be noted they are not from our stock.
Although there are no guarantees that any puppies will be champions, they will be bred with the breed standard in mind, focusing on proper temperament, conformation and genetic and physical health and will be well cared for. Our puppies will be high quality, with show potential being individual to the puppy itself.
We will ask questions and hope you will do the same.
We will be available for support, advice and to take the dog in, at any life stage, at no charge, if you are no longer able to care for it and cannot rehome it satisfactorily. Rehoming assistance will also be available.
We will never sell through a broker.
Visits to our home are welcome with advance notice. Please understand that this is our home. We have private lives. Our dogs are part of our family, and may be seen in town with us at times. We do not need a month's notice, but a 24 hour notice would be appreciated. We offer our guys at stud to females that meet the standard well. We can do the AI as well for an additional fee. We can ship to you or your vet.
What is a puppy mill? ASPCA's definition
We do not believe a dog should endure life within a cage or kennel in entirety. Yes, we use kennels and crates, but our dogs are given personal time outside of these areas with us. Crates and kennels are a secure and safe way to contain dogs when it would be unsafe or unwise to allow them to co-mingle with others. For instance, we have multiple male dogs here... It would be unwise to allow them to intermingle, especially when there are females in heat. Also, it would be unwise to allow males of one breed and females of another to intermingle when the female is in heat. Also, some females are protective of their young, so letting others near them when they are nursing could be dangerous. So, you can see, in crating or kenneling our dogs we are actually being responsible. Also, this prevents them from wandering away from home. Some are trusted outside without issue, while others must be on a leash.
We strive to keep our kennels clean, but one must realize that typically as soon as you finish cleaning one, the dog within it feels obligated to dirty it as quickly as possible... much like babies do clean diapers!
We supply fresh, clean water to our dogs at all times... and when we were froze out we bucketed water to them multiple times a day and kept as many inside as possible. We feed Diamond dog food. We follow a strict deworming and vaccination schedule. We heat and air condition our kennels as well as possible... dogs don't understand the concept of leaving the door shut... and the opening and closing of dog doors isn't conducive to energy conservation! We provide dog houses, interior access or bring our dogs inside. Due to sanitary reasons we cannot keep everyone inside. Some prefer their kennels. others are definitely house dogs. Some prefer being outside, and will stay out even when we would expect them to go inside their houses or such. (Bailey is certain she owns the house and we are her servants:)
We are in the process of getting all of our adults certified but since it isn't inexpensive it is a process. We have registered dogs, AKC, ACA, CKC and APRI. ACA offers a super health screening certification and tracks pedigrees with this info. They also offer free microchip activation. We are hoping to be showing in ACA this year within AR and MO.
We cooperate with other breeders to find homes, advertise, buy in bulk, etc. We have made some wonderful friends this way.
